Matthias Elmore died yesterday at this home in Ripley Township. The funeral services have not as yet been arranged. Mr. Elmore was born in Miami County, Ohio, Sept. 26, 1809, but came to this county with his parents in 1825. He grew to manhood here and all his life in this county was passed in Ripley Township. He entered a farm while quite a young man and was in fairly good circumstances when he died. He was an uncompromising Democrat and was proud of having voted for a Democratic presidential candidate before he attained his majority. He leaves several grown children, one of whom is James B. Elmore, the poet of Alamo. -s
